Tony Marvelli, at the age of ten, started playing trumpet. Some of Tony’s influences included trumpet masters such as Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, and Freddy Hubbard. He has had the opportunity to study with outstanding teachers including Steve Russo, Jay Saunders, Mike Steinel, Lynn Seaton, and Stefan Karlsson. 

After graduating the American River College with an Associates of Arts degree in music, Tony studied the University of North Texas and obtained a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Studies Performance. While in Texas he worked with several cover bands, pit orchestras, salsa bands. Latin bands, and different jazz ensembles from large to small, including the famous Guy Lombardo Orchestra under the direction of Al Pierson. 

Tony has traveled the world on cruise ships, working in the show band. He has played at the Sacramento Jazz Festival nine years in a row including backing up Jo Ann Castle, Lin Biviano and Stan Mark. He has recently toured with artists such as Englebert Humperdinck and Paul Anka throughout Asia and the USA.
