Kerry Kashiwagi, bassist, composer. Kerry began playing music at the age of 19 in Sacramento night clubs during the disco craze. Jazz, later became his music of choice which motivated him to study the upright acoustic bass. This contributed to the diversity in his skill. As a freelance bassist, Kerry enjoys playing many genres of music including: improvisational jazz, straight ahead jazz, Salsa, folk and funk. Local artists he has and continues to perform with are: Capital Jazz Project, Vivian Lee, Valerie Weinberg, Tom Peron, Ross Hammond, Dave Bass, Mat Marucci, Bob Ringwald and Kristy Reed. National and International artists he performed with are: Pete Barbutti, Bobby Hutcherson, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, John Tchicai and Motoshi Kosako. Kerry also composes music. The variety of music styles Kerry enjoys performing is reflective in the music he composes.
